Friday was the second visit to Louisville to see the eye specialist for Sadie to get her eye pressure checked. BluePearl is the eye specialist in Louisville that Sadie started visiting after her right eye started to become very cloudy. Sadie started seeing Dr. Tolar in April after her regular veterinarian gave us the bad news about her right eye. Dr. Tolar was optimistic about our options to try to figure out what happened to the right eye so we could potentially save the left eye from going through the same issues.
It was May 31st, 2018 and Sadie had an OK day. She’s on 3 different eye drops, anxiety medicine (like prozac but for dogs), and Tramadol for pain. Tramadol is giving to humans too and it’s a non narcotic mild pain reliever that is very bitter. Some times Sadie really struggles with this pill because of the taste. We have used pill pockets, cheese, bologna and several other foods to try to make this easier for Sadie to take but no matter what we put it in. If she bites into the pill while trying to swallow it, it’s head shaking time.
I didn’t think she was having a good day just based on my observation of being with her all day. She was moping around and really not being herself. She had her appointment at 1:45 and we were expecting a really high eye pressure reading but the right eye was 14 and the left was 5. The vet said that typical pressure is between 14-24 and her pressure has been in the 60’s before in her right eye. Heather and I were very excited to get the results.
Cheers’ to more adventures in the future
