This is our second year coming out to the Horse Park for the Run Walk Club. Click here to sign up for the Run Walk Club. We were really excited that they had mapped out a new trail for this year. Did I tell you that the weather was fan freaking fantastic for the first day or any day outside in fact? They’ve changed the location where you register or check-in to the Visitor Center from the gate entrance from last year but don’t worry there are a lot of signage throughout the property.
Don’t worry about grabbing dinner before you head out because they usually have a couple of different local food truck options. Last week they had Mr. Gyros & Spotz Gelato. This dish was the chicken gyro and I thought it was really good.
I was excited about them having 2 different courses this year, 1 is a 1.5 mile & the other is a 2 mile trail but don’t worry about the distance because the beauty of the trail is where it’s at. Sadie really enjoyed herself and this year the trail seems to be bike friendly. They did allow bikes last year but my personal opinion was the trail was not wide enough for the people and all of the bikes but this year the trails seem to accommodate both very well. I believe we done the 2 mile trail and there were a lot of horses in the pastures that you were able to get up close and personal with. I saw several different families coming out of 1 of the barn areas. I’m not sure if that area was open to the public or if people where just exploring but it looked cool to check out if you’ve never been inside a very nice barn before.
Don’t hold me to this but I do not think that they had bands playing last year for your entertainment. This year they’ve seemed to have a list of bands for our entertainment while enjoying the Run Walk Club for 2018. Click here for a list of bands that will be there for the Run Walk Club 2018. The band that was there seemed like a folk genre to me and was enjoyable to listen to. It made you want to kick back and relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the Kentucky Horse Park’s scenery. One of the cool things about this event is the flexible time frame from 5-8pm. I feel that this gives a lot of different people flexibility to get off work and do some things and still have enough time to stop by and enjoy the scenery. We arrived around 6pm and there were several families already there but we quickly signed in and were off to explore. Essentially you have 3 hours to explore different parts of the horse park that otherwise would be off limits to the public.
One of the coolest pictures that I thought i captured was almost at the end of the 2 mile trail of the different paddocks with all different styles of horses.
Here’s a quick video of what we saw during our adventure at the Kentucky Horse Park Run/Walk Club 2018
